Fortunately I was at my dad's house with a garage!

I unbolted the hinge ar the rear of the glove box. This dropped the whole thing down far enough that I could pry the front open enough to get a very long screwdriver in from the side to push in one side of the latch. I then jimmied the whole thing back and forth until the other side gave way.

It has been held closed with a bungee for the last week--I just got an inner latch from one of our fellow board members today--I'll put it in tonight.

You can only buy the whole assembly from a dealer--about $80.
