I'm getting mid-high teens around town and got between 24 and 26+ MPG doing a 69 MPH average on the 5 hour trip up to MA over Christmas. And that's with 274k miles on the car. Orig motor/build, and it still hauls-butt. Can't buy that in the U.S.!
I'm actually new to this whole BMW thing, too. To reinforce "the other Tim's" enthusiasm, about 2 years ago I bought my '87 535is w/ 269,000 miles from a friend for next-to-nothing and though it needs some rust attention in the trunk, door bottoms and inner rockers, it still looks good inside and out. In fact, the thing gets looks where ever I go and is just simply fun to drive and is relatively easy/inexpensive (mostly) to work on yourself. In fact, I'm selling my brand new Cherokee which I just paid off to have the body re-done on it, and maybe even the motor someday if it ever starts burning oil (though I've chatted with a couple guys in the UK with 400k+ miles who're still running strong). I've always liked cars, but I never saw myself becoming 'passionate' about one before now. There's just something about them, and the people I've met who own them. A good bunch, all in all. And I'm addicted to this website, to-boot!
Hope this helps.

I want some owner comments about that car and also comments considering fuel consumption are welcome (especially in winter). I appreciate all kind of comments what you have about that cars.
