Something strange happened last night-there was a large thump in the rear section of my 535is and my speedo went dead. Now I have a strange whiring noise only upon deceleration -- independent of whether the car is in gear or not. Any clues??

Yup...the plug that goes in the diff to control the speedo popped out.Jack it up and have it looked at.
