I've heard that although the urethane bushings should last a life-time, they tend to squeak quite often. Any other thoughts out there as to OEM rubber vs. urethane bushings?

Sounds like the bushings, but personally I'd use urethane bushings. I've installed a bunch and they are great (and lifetime as far as I can tell).

Bob

I have a 1983 533i that shakes in the steering wheel at 50 and 70 but gets even worse upon braking. I have seen this same problem on bimmer.org but have found no mechanic who seems to be able to figure it out. Here I have seen that people seem to have fixed this problem with 750i bushings. I am right now planning on replacing shocks and springs as well as these bushings. Hoping that the bushings cure the problem. Any opinions out there?

Thanks,

Brian S. - 1983 533i
