Who made the speakers for the OE BMW sound system?

I too kept the OE speakers and have a Pioneer CD head unit. The lack of bass is indeed a problem...but I don't want to cut holes in the rear deck to make it better. Guess I'll live with it for now.

87 535is

Even though I jump on the bandwagon 2yrs ago and bought aftermarket sound system for my e28, in everyone's opinion how does BMW 'premium sound system' new or old rank with brands like Infinity, Alpine, poineer, Kenwood, Blaupunkt, etc.
I am just curious to see what you people think, it seems to me from what I've heard so far that its actually pretty damn good for an OE!

They are pretty good, esp. considering the somewhat dated technology. A lot of guys keep the speakers (which are really not all that bad) and replace the head unit to get CD. Did that to my previous SO's 528e with good results. Replaced entire system in my 535is, she spent $200, I spent $800, and mine is not 4x better.
