I just recently bought an 88 528e, and it sounds like it hasn't had a valve job. Does any one know how to do this???
Thanks

Frank...You might find that the first project for your car is to buy the Bentley manual. It will help you tremendously. to spell out the whole procedure of adjusting the valves would take a chapter or two, but to get you started you will need a 10mm wrench, 1 1/8" wrench, 3/8" drive metric socket set, a set of screwdrivers, and a 5" piece of coat hanger. Remove valve corer and things may become a little clearer to you. you will see the centrally located cam, the rockers, and the tappets on the ends of the rockers. these tappets are what you adjust by loosening the through bolt on them. Adjust the tappets while each tappet is OFF lobe...meaning that the rocker is not engaging the cam lobe. recheck clearance(I use 0.011) and rotate motor to next position.
