My brother sold me his 84 528e with 187k on it. I was a little concerned, but after owning it for about 4 months now, I can appreciate all the Inspection I and Inspection II servicing he did on it. He changed the timing belt (twice), new guibo, clutch, brakes etc, etc. I'm grateful now, so you might want to see if the service manual is included in the glove box and check to see if the unit has stamps from the dealership regarding any Inspection I or II's.

If these have been done at all, you'd know that the car has some life left in after you got it running. If nothing has been done on it, you can count on many wonderful dollars flowing out of your pocket and you might want to wait until you can find one with a great history of Inspection I & II's that will cost you $2,000 but still has lots of life and will be more fun for you.

Sorry to ramble

Saw this car sitting and the tires go flat after about 6 months so I asked if they wanted to sell. The lady said it had some problems with a fuel pump but was ohterwise oK,
Interior is a little beat so they may not have taken car of it very well.
Is there anyting I should watch out for with this particular year of model?
Is $500 OK to pay for one that doesn't run?
Thanks for your info.
