Your stuck tape may be the problem. It may be keeping the tape mechanism running.
To see if your alternator is working, use a voltmeter across the battery terminals. The voltage should jump above 12.5 once the engine is running, to about 13.5 volts.
Disconnect your negative battery cable and hook up a test lite in series (one end on the battery the other on the terminal) Make sure all accessories are turned off and doors are shut, and key in the off position. If the test light in on you have a battery drain problem. Simple open your fuse box and pull on fuse at a time until light goes out. then look and find what that fuse goes to. Usually power antenna is the problem but not all the time. E-mail me if you have any question. I try to help.
