Dan,

true, the engine bay is pretty closed off, and the air near where the cone sits is warmer b/c of the heat from the engine, until speeds of 40-50 mph are attained. however, a cone kit flows a lot better than the standard drop-in type filter through the airbox b/c it has nearly double the surface area and fewer twists and turns. also, you might want to consider removing the black piece of plastic where the inlet hose to the factory airbox goes. this will further promote airflow directly into the engine bay. hopefully i've been of some assitance to you, and keep us posted on whatever you decide to do!
