if you're looking for a free-flow system, you're probably not going to find one engineered specifically for your model. 535i, yes, '88 528e, no. you might want to consider a custom exhaust using a universal muffler from borla, etc. however, it won't be a "plug n' play" deal, there will be some fabrication involved and i recommend letting someone who knows what they're doing do it. but if you're just wanting to replace it with a OE system, both ansa and bosal offer ones. from what i've heard, ansa's cheaper but doesn't last long, but bosal has a "boomy" sound to it, at least inside the cabin. i'd recommend going w/ an OE system b/c BMW did a pretty good job engineering it and it is really hard to find a reasonably-priced cat-back system that is better, unless you're just wanting something that sounds cool. just my $.02, though. hope i've been of some assistance...and if you DO find a good free-flow system, let me know!
