Most states are more concerned with stolen parts being used to repair totalled cars, so save EVERY receipt as you may need to present them at inspection.

Also take "before" repair photos for DMV and the next buyer. A salvage could mean the car was run over by a train OR just the bumper was bent (but the bumper and labor cost equalled the car's value).

Which car would you rather buy? A photo "now" for later (kept in the glove box) will be there to show whoever eventually buys the car. It will bring you the max $ for the car when you can show the minor damage and explain the reason for the salvage title.

# 1 son was rear ended in the grape (86 528e) 3300$ appraissal to repair. car is valued @2500$. i would like to kludge car together and keep driving it. there is no structural damage. the damage is purely sheetmetaland enrgy absorbing bumper. (think twice b4 liposuction you guys.) the s-10 blazer that did the deed was towed from the scene.grape drove home 140miles. auto body guy says that a salvage title is hard to overcome, but is much easier for a 10yr old car. of course i get this info @ 4pm fri,so instant gratification is out and i hafta stew all w/e. does any body out there in cyber-land have any knowledge about mass salvage title ins and outs? TIA
