straight through the thin section of the shock. Then push in on the bumper and it will slide back into its black molding. Once you have it collapsed fully, like Serg said, drill a hole through the remainder of the telescoping part of the shock and thread a retaining bolt/ or screw in. It looks great, but keep your face away from the hydraulic fluid coming out. Regards, Chris
