Thanks for all the input guys. can it be welded on the car or will the oil pan need to be removed? The hair line crack is located in the area where the aluminum starts to recess up around the low-oil sensor, thus slightly more difficult than if it were on the flat portion of the pan. I'll search for a competant aluminum welder and go from there. Thanks.

From the looks of things under there my suspension must be getting a bit old and soft. It appears that I had hit bottom due to slight scrapes on the pan and a scrape on the right inner control arm assembly. Guess the 225/50/15 tires don't help ride height either, but I like the e28 sitting lower.
