Best Way to Cut Metal for New Speakers? (archive)

I shall soon be replacing the "premium" speakers in the parcel shelf of my 87 535i with a new pair of 6X9's. What is the best technique for cutting out the metal beneath the shelf to accomodate the larger speaker baskets?
