If you absolutely want cold air, remove your right hand side inner frontlight and use the remaining hole as an air intake. The engine intake is right behind that lamp. If you install eurolights you'll have high beams in the outer lamps that can be wired in easily.

...can't find anywhere to get cool air from in fairly closed E28 engine bay?
So, how about collecting it through the bonnet instead?

could a good body shop fit a ready made scoop and spray it in? how about the subaru impertza scoop? nothing too tall though! we're not talking supercharges here!!
