... the bottom is not open!!! there is an 'undertray' which extends right back thus keeping the hot and less dense exhaust manifold air in (the bay) and thus reducing horsepower, my coolant fan is electric and only operates when things start to get a little too hot - which isn't that often; Sorry! but I don't have a/c anyway!
As shawn says it's the mass that counts the most not the volume!
I have a large washer bottle, it is much longer than usual because it has an intensive wash bottle on the back of it i.e. 2 washer bottles joined together! these take up all the space right up to the back of the headlamps! i.e. there's no gap big enough to insert a cone filter in there!
