535i weirdness (archive)

My '85 535i is doing something really odd. When I cruise on the interstate at 80-85mph, the car is so smooth, stable and quiet that subjectively, it seems to be crawling along. I don't want to go any faster, as most of my driving is within the lines of a medium metropolitan area, and the local gendarmery are somewhat ticket happy. (Can't afford the tickets OR the points...)

My question then, is it really more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow? It seems like my car is overqualified for the driving I get to do. I do occasionally get to storm some curvy four lane rural highways and teach "lesser" (and frequently much newer...) cars just exactly who's who! Oh well, maybe the old girl's not going to waste after all!
