throttle position switch is adjusted incorrectly and is not opening as soon as the throttle is cracked open, the computer will think that somehow the speed has increased from the idle setting and will close the idle control valve to attempt to reduce the rpm.

Using your ear and listening for the click (engine off) or an ohm meter, check to see that the switch clicks as soon as the butterfly barely moves on teh throttle body.

the car is still cold, when I push the throttle just a bit to get 1250 rpm it drops back to 1000 with no movement of the pedal. I figure I have some leaky injectors, and it is trying to adjust. I have some on the way from bimmerworld that I will clean and test, so maybe that will answer it. Any guesses?
