Fill me on on why it is a boo boo to preload the front end with a jack under the knuckle (tire in my case as I put the tire/wheel back on because I was too afraid to bust the knuckle) and lift it untill the weight is off the jackstand and then torque the through bolts on the control arms. This is exactly what I did.

What is the difference between doing this and driving up on ramps?
