No start (archive)

I just recently bought a 1988 528e missing its transmission. I have replaced the tranny and have attempted to start the car to no avail. I would guess by the license plate that it has been sitting for at least 2 years. I added 5 gallons of fresh gas and have checked the fuses under the hood. I am getting spark to the plugs. Car cranks over fine, but it just never hits. Any suggestions?
