I don't know how much the going rate is to do a head on the diesel, but $5000 sounds outrageous. You buy a new rebuilt motor for a lot less than that.

Of course, if you're ready to spend $5000 to repair your e28, I will sell you mine for that amount!! The point is you can buy another e28 in much better shape for that much cash.

If you are trying to stick with the diesel, you are going to incur more costs. I wonder if it woul be feasable to switch to a gas m30 motor. What would you need to change over?
