my wife or kids aren't crossing the road when you and your high school friends are racing on the public highways.
I hope you or they get a good $500 fine before someone gets hurt proving your manhood or the "manhood" of your car on the street.
Grow up. (That's not an insult-I sincerely you survive long enough to grow to a ripe old age.)
Keeps one from being tempted to put anyone "in their place." I guess I just figured that wasn't my job.
Any swinging dick can buy a faster car than I have and it proves nothing (except one's level of maturity).
i think his point about people knowing who's who wasn't to prove he was faster per se, as it was to prove that the other people weren't.... i go to high school in a very wealthy area, and a good chunk of the kids get 2000, 2001 mustangs for their birthday (regular 6 cylinder ones), and they all think that they're "the shit" and that they can beat the pants off everyone else in town just because it's a mustang. well, it gets on my nerves, so whenever they want to race, i let them know my 14 year old 535is is indeed faster. One guy would make fun of my car saying "it looks like it got hit by a train", so i challenged him to a drag race (in his -automatic- 2000 mustang no less). Needless to say he felt pretty dumb afterwards. after all, straight lines are supposed to be a mustang's forte aren't they? Another time on my way to school i pulled up to a redlight, looked to my left, and the mustang (a different one this time) revved their engine. The guy looked at my car and shook his head as if to say "no." I responded by nodding my head "yes." The light turned green, and he hasn't looked down upon my car since. I'm not one to flex nuts around town, but if anybody wants to question my car's ability, i have no qualms about showing them what's up :-)
