I just want to thank everyone for their help and input. I gave in and rewired my 1984...dont worry about running the wires along the factory wires, you wont find them. Dan...I ran mine under the carpet, and used a screwdriver to push it back under the lip on the siderails. I replaced the stock(16 year old peeled, orange, rotted) with some JBL 49 dollar 2 ways from circuit...which by the way, happen to fit really great. The reason for the rewire is because of the common ground to the back speakers(which by the way was wired backwards on my car by the factory, i had one out of phase speaker!) 40 watts a channel, so the new 18 guage wires will help out a lot. Sounds perfect, BUT....not a lot of bass response, but what can we expect from 4x6er's. I might be installing a single 10 sub this week to complete the system, filling out the sound, making it full. The 4x6 speakers only go down to 20hz, so a sub is on the cards. Anyway, thanks......Richard
