The gear shift on my 84 528e really has a lot of side-to-side travel in it and in reverse, I must be careful not to push too hard to the left because I get a pulsing that doesnt' feel right. Also, the (new) boot is torn on the left because reverse pinches the boot between the stick and the side wall.

Wassup???

Is this normal or is something in need of a fixin?
