I was witness to an accident this AM on 83 near Baltimore (yea Ravens!) involving an E46 BMW. He and a SUV tried for the same lane space. The BMW overreacted and swerved back across the slow lane onto the snow covered shoulder. No traction so he slid over into the guard rail and bounced back with another swerve into the slow lane, sideways. Traction plunged him headfirst back into the guardrail. So all of right side and front is damaged. He looked fine (I was now 50yds.+ in front), didn't see an air bag. The SUV was fine and never slowed down. Last I saw the BMW was stopped in the slow lane perpendicular to traffic, but everyone seemed to have slowed. Driver error I'd say, but wondered if less body roll would have been more managable.
