I went and checked out some autocrossing action this weekend (my 2nd time) and had a blast! I was wondering how many of you 5-er drivers participate in auto-X? You see, I'm thinking about getting the 533i out there pretty soon. If anyone is willing to share their experiences of driving the e28 at an auto-X event, I would love to hear them. Perhaps some of you would be willing to share some of the upgrades and modifications you've had success with? Oh, one last thing...what classes are you guys or gals running in? Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I too have been bitten by the AutoX bug. I have been racing for the last 10 years very successfully with the BMW Car Club of America (BMWCCA). I won many class events and even the championship! It's also great fun to hang with fellow enthusiasts, just like here!
The best changes that I have made to my car were: #1 Tires (good street tires or better yet DOT approved racing tires) #2 Performance Swaybars #3 Computer Chip Upgrade #4 Limited slip differential #5 Lowered Springs. All other changes that I made to my car other than those described were only very slight improvements. The ones listed had the best bang for the buck.
Lastly, I would like to say that as much fun as it is to improve our beloved cars. The best change we can all make is in honing our own skills as drivers. The best parts in the world are only as good as the person who can maximize them. Have a great time AutoXing! You have only scratched the surface of a wonderful venue!
