Try cleaning the contacts behind the instrument cluster. Also try cleaning the speed sensors on your diff.You might also try to clean the contacts where the fuses are in while you are at it.
But basically you might also try to check to see if you are getting power to your your windows and the instrument cluster.
I was going to say to change the batteries in the instrument cluster, but apparently the instrument cluster in the 82 528e do not have the batteries on the circuit board.
