I use a pressure washer, but what I do is use plastic bags and rubber bands. I cover the fuse box, distributer cap, TPS, coolant sensors, brake bomb sensors. Then I take a stiff brush and scrub and scrub and scrub, but I do this when the motor is off. Then when I go to wash it off, I turn the motor on and use a pressure washer. With the motor running it prevents the water getting into the electrics.

Hope this helps
