Hey guys(and gals)!

Many thanks for the response to my post last week upon becoming a new 535i owner. And yes, I am the ex-wife who has Poe's 535i, however, I purchased the car. I didn't take it in a settlement. It was very nice of him to sell it to me as I know he loved it dearly. This is why I want to take really good care of it.

I have some questions. My mechanic said I needed bushings and an alignment. Said the alignment would take 6 hours. Does this sound right? I mean, this is not the first european car I have owned. Is this something specially done with bimmers? I also haave a problem with the transmission. When I first put it in reverse, it won't "connect" for about thirty seconds. Then it is fine. What could this be? Am I in line for major repair work? Also, need to know what type of wax is best. The car is black. Also, the best fluid types such as brake, transmission, and the best oil. Any additives that would help. The mechanic said he was impressed with the condition of the car and that when these minor glitches were taken care of it should give me years of great service.I took in in for an overheating problem. Thought I had a leak. He bled the lines and tightened everything and the temperature gauge does rides in the middle or less but I can smell something "hot". Anyone ever had this problem.

Thanks again and I would appreciate e-mail responses so I can file them for future reference. Also, got a chuckle out of the verbal war going on here. Does this happen often? Bimmer owners are passionate people and it obviously flows over into other aspects of their lives.
