You have to lift the carpet and use a flat blade screwdriver to release the pedal from the bracket that holds it to the floor board. If I remember correctly, there are 2 tabs on either side. It is easy to do.

I need to remove the gas pedal to clean the carpet. Some dork spilled a drink (okay, it was me!), and I need to scrub the stain out. I can release it at the top, but how does it come loose at the bottom. I have removed a 2002 gas pedal- it just snaps in at the bottom to 2 round snaps attached to the carpet. Is it the same? I don't want to force it out if there is a trick to it. Any ideas?
