My cruise control went bad on my 86 535i. The nickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries in the circuit board finally wore out. I tried re-soldering new batteries (1.6v AA size) onto the circuit board (which is just above/behind the speedometer) and I fried something. Now I just use my experienced foot to regulate my speed. You know, my foot reflex (lift when unsure) has saved me from some speeding tickets that the cruise control could not save me from!!!
Put the pedal to the metal! BMW forever!

what's the module look like? is it the same as on an e30... I've got one laying around if it's the same as an e30.

I've tried and I've tried, but I can't get my cruise control to work. I have 1. replaced the cutoff switch on the clutch because it was bad, 2. renewed the brake/tail light grounds which were causing the check brake light indicator to come on, 3. replaced the cruise switch on the steering column which was sloppy feeling, and 4. checked and tightened the ground under the driver kick panel. None of this worked. The cruise control still won't engage. Holding the lever down causes the car to speed up, but as soon as I let up on the lever, nothing happens. Occassionally, the thing will work if I engage it at slow speeds (less than 40). Problem is, I want to faster than that sometimes.

Control module shot? What do you think? Anyone have one around?

Thanks
