I have not needed to replace mine on my 5 but what it does when it goes wrong is causes the idle to be too high or too low. As in, when the motor is warm the idle is high or when the car is cold the idle is too low. I doubt this would cause your car to break down.

Has anyone ever replaced it? and if so,...what were the symtoms of it going bad? I recently posted the message with the subject breaking down a few hours ago. Anyways...any input would be greatly apprciated.
