It will fit, BMW did it in SA. You have to knock back the firewall, and change the DME and you need to use the E28 tranny and you also need a custom driveshaft. You will need to weld in brackets in the engine bay so that you can run the hydrolic brakes and you will also need to bend new brake lines because the master cylinder will sit in a different place. There is a lot to do to convert, plus you gain a huge amount of weight in the front end. I would personally suggest just putting in an M50. You will maintain handling and you will be at the power of an unmodified m30.
