Boris,
hi. Another way to determine if the part is worn is to jack the rear end up of car by the differential, you should be able to see the wear and play in the bushing. This bushing looks like a can and it should be filled with black rubber. On my car one was more worn out than the other, therefore you could not see any rubber on one. Note that there are two bolts with bushings next to this bushing aprox 17 or 19mm or even bigger? You need to remove them to get to this larger bushing to my recolleciton, it was recommended to me that when you replace that large one you describe, you ought to also replace to two next to it.

This job is not an easy job, need to have tool or at the very least a lift, power tools, patience and strength.

Lastly, the symptoms my car had which lead me to replace these bushings were as follows:
1.loud banging sound from rear when I put car in gear
2. car swayed at highway speeds. The tail end of car would just fishtail and if I didn't slow down the car would obviously go out of control.
3. rear tires wore out rapidly.

I looked to find part numbers for you, but was not successful.
Good luck.

I own a 1985 528e. Problem is a noise and a slight jerk when accelerating. I think i already localized the problem, but i don't know the name of the part, and cannot imagine the procedure how to replace it. Let me describe the part.
It is a bushing which goes vertically and connects rear axle carrier with the frame. This bushing is damaged, and when car is moving the inner cylinder is moving up and down and hits the frame.
I hope somebody can help me.
