Yeah tell me about it, I'm up in Boston, freezing with no heat, because I can't bring myself to tackle the heater core and there is no way I'll pay. So I bundle up and make short trips in freezing temps. If you have it in you to share your tips, I'd gladly receive them. As a matter of fact I went to the junk yard and tried to figure out how to access the heater core, but it was too overwhelming. :< So I got a few coolant temp switches and such and here I am contemplating the cold again tomorrow. Actually the car has new fangled symptoms now. Electrical nightmare.

Just an FYI for the fellow Bimmer Lovers....If your heater core needs replacing and you plan on doing it yourself -- prepare for Hell. More than I thought getting to it, but was NOT willing to pay for the labor to do the job...Too stubborn for that. Lots of hours later center console is mostly back in place, but HEAT is full blast. Gotta love those Old German cars, I sure do.
