You can probably get replacement guides from a dealer or junkyard. I'd try the dealer first, because you won't have to manually open the sunroof of a car whose roof is caved-in from the car on top of it. They shouldn't be too expensive from a dealer (but they probably are), as there simply isn't that much to them.
Another possibility is that you could simply remove the deflector and add a third-party unit for about $40. You see these a lot- they bulge up from the roof whether the sunroof is open or closed. I have no experience with these. Does anyone out there know if these are any good, and easy to install?
i think the pannel is mounted ok because it lines up with the top of the roof perfect cai i get replacement gudes for the wind diflector? will that solve my problem? thanks again ~JOHN BANNER~
My sun roof has exhibited this stopping behavior for some time. It has now stopped open :-( and I have to figure out how to get it close or be flooded out. On the 528e I have there is a pop out that allows one to see the motor. Do you have to remove the whole black panel that houses the button in order to get to the motor?
