I also own a 535is, and last summer (during a heatwave of course) my car kept over heating as well. i replaced the theromostat. that didn't help at all. then i realized the cap to my coolant tank was cracked, it kinda helped when i replaced that. but like you when i was checking something else my uncle (who is a mechanic) noticed my fan was running pretty slow. so he replaced the clutch, and my car never ran so cool. he told me they should be replace about every 5-7 years. mine was the original. so replace that, and that should totally help.

'88 535is



Just did the thermostat on my 535is and still runnin on the hot side of the gauge.Bled system many times.flow seems to be good.The cluch fan seems a little week. I acadently hit while i was bleeding and IT stopped rite in my hand,is that normal or is it shot?it only seem's to cool down when the
aux fan comes on. I have the bently on this car. I am just lookin for some addvise on where to start.
