Spring Coils Banging Together?? (archive)

I have Bilstein HD's and Eibach Pro springs, all a little over 1 year old. The springs have been making an awful racket lately, so I jacked up the car and noticed that the undersides of the top three coils are missing the paint (obvious sign of contact). What is going on here? Are these springs losing their firmness already? I did notice that the bump stops are pretty deteriorated, but should these springs be depending on the bump stop to keep from banging coils? I live in Georgia where the roads are very good----no potholes or the like. I get the banging even on pretty small bumps. It is completely nerve racking. Anybody know what's going on here?
