I don't agree with your comments on this. I find that my RD springs have the paint worn off the top three coils, but that is because they rub on each other under hard coners. This is called coil bind. If you have progressive rate springs which I believe the Eibachs are, they are suppost to touch. When they touch that increases the spring rate. When they are touching there are vibrations throughout the spring and that rubs the paint off coils. If you run a stiff shock, aka Bilstein Sports or Koni Sport Yellows, you will find that coils won't touch that much and you not have this problem. If you measure the ride height, you can tell if the springs are sagging. If the springs are sagging, I would suggest replacing them, but I doubt after 10K that will happen.
Hope this helps,

This is what I feared. It is pretty ridiculous, in my opinion. I have about 10K on mine, too. Do you find the H&R's to ride softer, firmer or about the same. They are non-progressive, correct?
I was having the same problem with my Eibach's.
I just swapped out for H&R's yesterday and all is well again. My coils were just as you described and a BMWCCA Technical advisor verified that they were indeed shot. The fronts appear to be fine. The Eibachs had about 10-12,000 miles on them when it first started to be a problem. Eibach's have a lifetime warranty but I'm not getting my hopes up. You have to send them the springs and they 'evaluate' them and then may or may not send you some new ones.
Mine got so bad I couldn't put more than a half tank of gas in the car and it still sat 3/4 of an inch lower in back.
Good luck.
