I just bought a '87 535is with 230K on it in similar condition to yours. It was very well maintained mechanically (all records since new) but needs some cosmetics. It runs very strong. The paint is faded and the dash is cracked (it was not garaged) but what do you expect for $2500. The only thing I've had to do to it is replace the clutch master and slave cylinders. The big six engine is supposed to go over 300K w/o a rebuild if properly maintained.
88 535is..220k..has records. New Clutch, shocks, springs, bushings and more; interior clean, paint good with minor scratches. All amenities work except headrests(sounds common)...rims have been changed to non-TRX. Wants $4500. The questions: is 220K still got a lot of life left in it? What should a good compression result be for this engine? What kind of annual maintenance costs have you guys experienced(I have had Audis, so I am used to higher costs...) Can I use this everyday? Any other answers/opinions welcome.....thanks....
