Hello all,
Found out a little history of the car, was German owned until just over a year ago then was sold to a US soldier. This is good news because the Germans take much better car of their cars than the poor GIs do.
Spent the last two days doing the following to the car. Spent two hours cleaning the engine bay. Just 3 cans or de greaser and a bottle of simple green and it looks great. It is amazing how a layer of oil and protect everything. Replaced all four rotors, pads and sensors they were way shot with metal to metal on the back. The left rear was even missing the two chrome "guide rods" with the Hex head.
I have the Antrasite cloth interior and of course the drivers Recaro seat was in bad shape due to a fat Germans butt on it for 15 years. Replaced it with one just like it that needed a little TLC for $30. Love the Recaro seat! Replaced the chrome window trim, headlight assembly with some of my primo ones, both M badges to includes the BMW ones and transferred the 850i stereo system form my 520i to the M.
Found an American spec 535i in the Ansbach salvage yard, while getting you guys some more light packages. I now have the US instrument cluster and warning panel.
Question, brake warning light comes on whenever I start the car. When I apply the brake is turns off, any suggestions? Also, with the US panel the Engine oil light is on now, engine oil is good, and ideas?
Will be taking it to the dealership to get the valves adjusted and an alignment on Tuesday.Going to check into a paint job next week. So much for a cheap car!!
I will have pictures soon.
Thanks,
Duke
