Sam,

I'd be grateful for any tips you might have for replacing the gas tank on my 87 535i. I've got a new tank coming in the mail soon.

Thanks!
richard

How much does the fuel tank cost to fix/replace/repair including labor?

I just replaced three gas tanks for my two e28's (don't ask) so I am qualified to answer this (if the car you're looking at is an e28 as I haven't seen an e28 with heated seats). One salvage yard charged $50 and another $100.00 for a tank. I did the labor and after the first removal/replacement, the job took about 30 minutes. The first one took considerably longer (email for tips if you plan to do the job). It is a very easy do it yourself job even without much mechanical experience or tools.
