First I believe the groove you see is in the Rotor right? Sounds like you might have a sticking caliper which is making your rotor wear faster then normal and causing excessive heat which has warped your rotor(s). You probably should get rebuilt or rebuild your current calipers and get new rotors. I have heard about using 540 (same as 93-93 740) rotors but since I don't have an M5 and the associated calipers I can't vouch. I currently have a full set (front and rear) of 540i rotors and calipers on my 535 and have not warped them with extra "spirited" driving. (warped stock new rotors in 1 month originally). Follow the link for info about the rear.Jeff Donaldson

I've noticed that in the past few days that the car has a horrible shake around 35-40 mph ( even worse when I let my foot off the throttle.) When I apply the brake (lightly) at this speed it gets a little better. When i pulled over to take a look the caliper looks grooved ,more so than the other side. And you can smell the pads working overtime. I would like to upgrade at this point. I've heard of using 740 rotors. What about SS brake lines. Do they REALLY make a difference. What can I do to upgrade the rear also. Any help would be grateful
