The 533i is a great car, about equal in performance to a 535i that replaced it in 1985. It is superior to a 528e in accelleration and top speed. The areas of weakness are well documented in the archives here.
Pay close attention to front suspension bushings and steering boxes, 5 speed transmission synchro's, drive shaft center bearings.
The cars are very robust and satisfying to drive, with proper maintenance able to rack up many thousands of miles.
Most new owners employ the Two Thousand dollar rule......Plan on spending two Grand in the first year. Good luck
