-Check the main relay. On the side of the fusebox, but its location varies depending on model and year. Usually the frontmost relay on the right, but not always. It has a 4mm red wire going to pin 30.
-Pin 15 on the coil should have 12V on it when the key is in the start or run position.The Bentley manual has more complete and detailed instructions for dealing with a no-spark situation. IMHO, if you're a DIYer with your e28, you should have a copy.
Changed the ECU from a car that is running (after checking
the speed sensor, solder joints in the ECU, coil)...STILL
no spark. Have gone over previous posts on this...and the solder joints in the ECU are fine-which seemed to be the most common problem. EVERYTHING "seems" fine, EXCEPT..NO SPARK....What else to check, please?
