It sounds to me like it must be in the wiper motor itself. There must be something worn or loose on the contact plate which allows it to make just enough contact at the park postion to carry it around for another revolution, ad infinitum.

Andy,

You said you swapped the switch, the one in the steering column, right?.... If that is true and you have found the grounds... You have replaced everything.
The only other thing I can think of is the socket for the relay. Clean out the female side, clean it real good. If that does not work, there must be another ground.

i have a 1984 533i and when i turn on the windshield wipers they won't quit. replaced the relay and it seemed to work for a week or two.checked the wiring and i taped up a small bare spot and again they stayed off for a few days,then they started wiping non stop.the last thing i did was switch the wiper switch with my other 84 533 and it seems to work for a few days then the same thing. it's driving me crazy!! any other ideas might help
