I finally bought and installed aftermarket cheapo foglights (long after the originals were stolen!) on my '85 528e. Wired them up right, flipped the switch, and one of the lights was inoperative. The first thing I did was check the fuse, and sure enough it was blown. I replaced the fuse and proceded to blow it again, instantly. Turns out that the halogen lamp inside that foglight assembly was defective (short). Replaced that lamp, and no worries, mate! The cheapo lights work great, and I'm not worried about their being stolen now (they're cheap, and who'd want to steal 'em?? :)Below you wrote "(my old ones were broken)". Could it be the same problem you are having with the new ones?
I just put in new fog lights in my 535is (my old ones were broken). The new ones don't work. I ve checked the relay and the switch...no luck. Any ideas?
