Actually, both M30's I've had apart (1980 635csi and 1988 535is) had baffles. The lower portion of the sump had a baffle running completely around the oil pupmp pickup. The pans also had rudimentary windage control (oil scrapers) to control oil slinging off the crank.

No M30 engine I've had the pan off of has had a baffle, but it's deep enough I doubt that you would be able to sustain enough G Force to starve the sump of oil. Just an opinion, though.

Does anyone know if our e28's have an oil pan baffle?? I recently attended my first auto cross event, and heard a horror story from on 02 driver that said his oil pump sucked air during a hard corner causing serious engine damage. It was an autocross school and I've never had so much fun in my life. I know my cars limits better than I thought. TIA
