I've never bought a used pump that was leaking because there is always the chance the seal wiping area is damaged (I've bought maybe 10 non-leaking used pumps and never had had one go out or leak ever, so buying a leaking one is a gamble I didn't want to mess with.).

Quite often one that is leaking at the back cover can be fixed by just resealing there (no parts required). If that's where your leak is, I'd try that before disassembling the pump completely. If you luck out, you can return the kit!

I bought a used p/s pump and ordered a new gasket kit for $30.00 from BMP. By the looks of the different gaskets in there, I've got to tear this thing down and install about 4 to 5 little "do-dads" (as my late grandfather would call them).

Anyone ever done this before? What do I look out for?

Thanks!
