I cut my shelf with a jigsaw with a metal blades. Patience and few blades later, the 6X9's are nicely mounted. David

No probs in a year.

i have a 1983 520i and i want to install a set of Kenwood 6x9s speakers on my parcel shelf but they will not fit because of the metal shelf is not deep enough to allow for the speaker magnet.Can i take out this shelf and build another,although the shelf stiffens the chassis could i fix a wooden shelf??????
